Based on a childhood memory of me pretending to be a pirate. Using the idea that a child’s imagination can turn a simple household object into something much grander. This was translated to print by using tracing paper to define the difference between reality and imagination.

University brief to promote a dialect as part of the British Libary’s One Language, Many Voices campaign. I choose to celebrate the life and work of Salford’s punk-poet John Cooper Clarke by creating a poetry festival. Alongside advertising material a zine was also produced.

Last one week university project. The brief was to visually map my route from the studio to my bedroom. I chose to create an illustration based on the things that I see and touch on the journey.

Brief to teach us about the basics of grids and layouts in typography. We had to typeset a passage from Josef Muller-Brockmann that featured in eye magazine. The brief stated that only a total of 3 colours could be use, with up to 2 fonts and 3 type sizes overall.

Based on the letter M, I decided to produce a design based on the Chilean Miners rescue that had happened at the time. The brief stated that the final outcome was restricted to a square with 210mm sides.

Print / Typography

My first university project asked me to produce a mnemonic to help remember the 6 things in the design process. We down the route of creating a saying where each section was linked to a certain object that was then in turn connected to the part of the process. Glasney and Penryn are places near to Falmouth.

Final Major Project for my art foundation. A series of A1 posters based on the idea of optical illusions and how little subtle changes can greatly affect one's vision.

Video

Produced as part of my Final Major Project titled illusions. I created a set of continuous animations based on the simple principle of rotating grids, resulting in a false sense of speed that is created with interfering lines. The animations where to be projected large scale onto a screen.

During my Final Major Project I kept two little Moleskin sketchbooks; one with plan paper, the other with gridded. These where used throughout the project as a way of experimentation and idea development. Here is a collection of the two books I filled.

New Hall Lane is a major road in Preston, and one of the main ways into the city centre from the motorway. Quite a lot of the shops on the street are boarded up and in various states of decay.

Four day self-set college project. Decided to look at the connection between designing with a computer and also with a more 'hands on' approach. The final piece was an A1 drawing containing dots drawn with a fineliner that create the phrase HAND MADE.

Taken during a college trip to London 6306 presents a quite candid look at what happened one night. The name originates for the room number in which the event occurred.

Print / Photography

Using the photographs from the 6306 project I decided to create a simple twenty paged black and white zine. This gave me the chance to experiment with the ideas of using grids for images in a layout.

Photography

As part of my sister's birthday celebrations I stayed at a jog cabin on Loch Awe, Dalavich for the weekend. With the picturesque setting around me I used the moment to capture as many shots as possible.
